Volunteering at the library is a rewarding experience! The library accepts volunteers from the surrounding community to fulfill a variety of tasks. Students 14 or older who must complete service hours as part of their courses can apply for volunteering at the library. Students may also request mentoring or complete volunteer tasks as part of their senior projects. Come into the library and fill out a volunteer application today! 
Adult Program: Volunteers tutor individuals 16 years and older who speak English and are out of high school. Materials and space provided. Tutoring times are flexible. Commitment: 2-3 hours per week. Children's Program: Volunteers tutor small groups of children twice a week for an hour each day. Structured curriculum. All materials provided. Commitment: September through December or February through May. Contact the library at (562) 868-7738 for training dates of either program.  Students 14 and older and adults can help out with various tasks. Schedules are flexible and based on the hours the library is open. 
High school students are encouraged to volunteer at the Homework Help Center located at the Neighborhood Center. The Homework Help Center is open from 3-5 p.m. Monday through Thursday.
