Parks & Recreation Services Division
YOUTH FLAG BASKETBALL The Parks and Recreation Services Division is excited about offering a Youth Basketball League designed to expose children to the fundamental skills of basketball within the recreational league setting. This program also allows children to experience team work and sportsmanship. Most importantly, this program promotes fun. This program is open to boys and girls, grades 3rd - 6th. Teams will be formed after the mandatory skills evaluation assessment of each participant. The skills evaluation assessment is only to help create parity in league play. This is not a tryout. All participants will be placed on a team and have playing time. Practices will begin the week of January 28, 2008. All practices and games will be held in the evenings at Center Court, 10340 Orr & Day Road. Teams practice twice a week. Games generally take place week nights and Saturdays mornings. HOOPSTARS The City will offer a clinic that provides the perfect introduction for the kindergarten through 2nd grade age group to learn about basketball on a fun, recreational level. This program is designed to teach the basic fundamentals of the sport. Hoopstars meet on Fridays from 3:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. beginning January 11 - February 22, 2008, at the Activity Center, 11155 Charlesworth Road. REGISTRATION INFORMATION Resident mail-in registration is currently in progress for these programs. Walk-in registration will be held Tuesday, December 5, 2007. The fee is $26.
