Social Services
The Social Services Section provides a range of social services, including client assessment and advocacy, information and referrals, an on-site emergency food pantry, and assistance in the immigration and naturalization process. Other services include the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program which prepares taxes free of charge to low income families, Youth In Industry Summer Youth Employment Program, notary services, recreational and educational classes, after-school programs for children, and holiday food basket distributions. Provides free tax preparation to low to moderate income families Edison Rate Relief Program Families can apply for one time assistance to pay for their Edison electric bill, based on eligibility. Emergency Rental Assistance Emergency rental or financial assistance available to families experiencing hardships. Santa Fe Springs Family Health Center/Presbyterian Intercommunity Hosptial - Contact The City of Santa Fe Springs and Presbyterian Intercommunity Hospital offer on site medical services and health and wellness services to the commuity. These services include a variety of health risk screenings, well child visits, childhood immunizations, flu shots, and health education services.
Participating Agencies: Educational Programs College classes, special programs for advanced/specialized education through our local colleges and institutions. ESL classes and Citizenship classes are available. Los Angeles Center for Alcohol and Drug Abuse (LACADA) Counselors are available to provide substance abuse intervention and prevention for youths through group and individual counseling. Agencies and Groups that Meet at the Neighborhood Center: Narcotics Anonymous Sociedad Progresista Whittier Area Parents Association for the Developmentally Handicapped (WAPADH) Community Action Partnership - Food assistance to families and senior citizens one time per month.
