The City of Santa Fe Springs was bestowed the title “Most Business Friendly City” in Los Angeles County by the Los Angeles County Economic Development Corporation (LAEDC), for Cities with a population under 60,000.The award was presented at the LAEDC’s 14th Annual Eddy Awards® ceremony, which annually honors economic development leadership throughout the region.The Eddy Awards® has become one of the most prestigious economic development award programs in the state of California.

The LAEDC recognizes two categories of cities, those over 60,000 in population and those under, for their commitment to creating a business-friendly environment where businesses can thrive and create jobs.LAEDC President and CEO Bill Allen was quoted as saying, “the ability and commitment of our local governments to attract and retain good jobs is absolutely essential if our region is to regain its economic vitality and sustain our quality of life.” The City of Santa Fe Springs could not agree more. Santa Fe Springs was among a worthy group of finalists that included the neighbor cities of Bell Gardens, Commerce, and La Mirada in its category.The award finalists were selected based on the following criteria: Demonstrated commitment to economic development as a priority Excellence in programs and services designed to facilitate business entry, expansion, and retention Economic development activity over the past three years Competitive business tax rates and fee structures Availability of economic incentives Effective communication with and about business clients The City appreciates its partnership with the local business community and its support and indispensible role it played in this most recent recognition.Receiving the Most Business Friendly City Award speaks volumes of the wonderful, mutually beneficial, three-way partnership with the residents, businesses, and City organization, which has made Santa Fe Springs such a unique and award-winning community since its inception.
